Post Processors (*.cbpp) / Speed Displayed with a Decimal
« on: June 29, 2017, 11:32:05 am »
I'm modifying a pp for our Emblaser 2 laser cutter and I'm just about there but I have one more hurdle to clear.
The g code needs the spindle speed output S to be a decimal ranging from 0 to 1 (0 - 100%)

eg: G1 X10.00 Y20.00 S0.20 F300
S0.2 = 20% laser power

Is this possible?

Thanks
Paul

Members Projects / Hypocycloid Gearbox
« on: February 05, 2015, 04:03:10 am »
I finally finished my 3D printer and found that the steps/mm for the extruder was a bit course so I designed a 10:1 reduction gearbox using CB's Hypocycloid generator.

Post Processors (*.cbpp) / Sytec Post
« on: June 16, 2014, 09:09:27 am »
Hi
A new machine has arrived at work with a sytec controller and I am trying to configure a post for it. One difference I have come across is the drilling canned Cycles, it only needs the Z. Q. R. F values in the first line and then only the X Y coordinates for the rest.
So how do I remove the Z. Q. R. F values from these lines.

Members Projects / Speaking of Right Angle Drives
« on: August 18, 2013, 11:46:55 am »
Here is a right angle drive I made up to put the transfer port into my engine.
It was made from a piece of 5/8 Square stock a couple of bearings from a hard drive a flat belt from a video player and a cordless drill motor. The pulley is attached to a shortened 3/32 slot drill running directly in the bearings serving as the spindle. The bore was about an 1"dia.

CamBam help (General usage) / Performance Issues
« on: May 27, 2013, 22:15:14 pm »
Hi CBer’s
Whenever I do a 3d profile or use the text feature or something that requires a bit of thinking it will take anywhere up to 5 minutes to produce the tool paths so it turns the 5 minute job into a ½ hours chore and this is when I use my new pc a Dell Windows 7 Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-1650 0 @ 3.20GHz 3.20 GHz 16.0 GB 64- bit.
If I run the same file on my 2yr old laptop it will produce the same tool paths in 5-10 seconds.
Acer Aspire5750G Intel(R) core(TM) i5-2410 CPU @2.30 GHz 2.30 GHz 4 GB 64- bit.

Does anybody have any tips or tricks on what to tweak to speed things up?

Dell is our companies provider so I have no choice in this department

Bug Reports / Export then inport DXF failure
« on: October 21, 2012, 09:27:31 am »
Hi
I have imported a dxf and then put my text on it using both the arc text plugin and normal text then exported it as a dxf so I print it out but when I import it their is nothing.
when I try to import the exported dxf file into CB a message says "Line 752: Input string was not in a correct format".
The original dxf will export and impot with no worries,I have tried different text type but no luck.

CamBam help (General usage) / edit gcode - notepad format
« on: August 09, 2012, 22:39:38 pm »
When I replaced some Z's with X's I used the edit gcode function in CB instead of notepad, then I wanted to tweak some numbers when it was loaded in mach3 which uses notepad to edit text and when it opened it all the formatting had changed making it difficult to find the numbers.
Is there something I missed or is the common to everyone?

CamBam help (General usage) / YZ Plane Machining
« on: August 09, 2012, 04:59:08 am »
Hi All

I want to machine a trough / scallop with a given radius (8mm) and length (44mm) along the X axis using a 3/16" ball nose cutter. I draw an arc then transform it so it lies in the YZ plane then use the engrave mop to do the tool path this seems to work but the depth is shown in the Z axis, given that I’m working in the YZ plane I would have thought that the depth would be the X axis. (yes I can change all the Z’s to X’s).
It gets a bit confusing when your drawing is on the YZ plane but your tool path is on the XY plane. Can the grid be changed to suit what plane you are working in.
Does anyone have an easier or better way of doing this.

Why do you end up with radiuses on the external corners when you use the offset command?

Related Softwares / Cut Viewers Disappearing Stock
« on: April 04, 2012, 00:37:21 am »
I had just finished my program in CamBam and used simulate with cutviewer, when I noticed that it was not behaving, the g code would load ok but it would cut a different profile altogether. I tried to change the stock from rectangle to round but it wouldn't change, so I did an uninstalled then reinstalled it and now no stock will show up at all and it won't run a simulation at all.
I am running windows 7 64bit and cutviewer is installed along with CamBam in C: Program Files (x86) so I tried installing cutviewer in C: Program Files and bingo it works like a charm except now the link to “simulate with cutviewer” has been lost. Does CB need to be also installed into the same C: Program Files for the link to work?
I am at a loss as to why it stopped working in C: Program Files (x86)

Feature Requests / Cut Viewer Round Stock
« on: December 14, 2011, 01:36:43 am »
Hi
I have been doing a lot of round components lately and have been using the "rectangular stock” so it save me some time when I use the Mach3-CV post but it would be nice to be able to select “round stock” to use in Cut Viewer, particularly when the round stock has a hole in the centre.
I have been defining the stock in cut viewer manually until now (For round stock) but with 3 tool changes it soon becomes a tiresome chore.

Feature Requests / Arc Text Plugin
« on: July 14, 2011, 22:47:29 pm »
Hi All
I have found myself using the arc text quite a lot in the past few days to put numbers on some protractor type scales for my stent tool & cutter grinder.
I am finding this to be a long process because to get the text correctly spacing to every 10 deg I have to do each number individually and with 36 numbers to do this means starting and changing the plugin 36 times.
It would be nice if the plugin remembered the last setting so you only need to change 1 or 2 settings or if their was an a “apply button” that would apply that text then allow you to change to the next text and so.
Or can you do this already and I'm just missing it.

Cheers
Paul
