Hi Folks
Would you have any idea of how ss watches are made.
I dont think that they are casting these watches and than giving it a fine finish.
I am guessing that they are milled.

I would like to make items like this
http://www.ross-simons.com/products/DCOT01.html
how are the beads on the diamonds made.
I have heard that they use carbide burs for making the place for the stone and they use
air pump or hydrological pump
(I think they are both the same)
for pushing the beads onto the stones.
http://www.ross-simons.com/products/DCOT01.html
but in this case I don't exactly know what they did

how is the frame made for the watch
I am guessing that they take a block of stainless steel metal and they make the shape on a milling machine

I don't think there is any welding

Here is another model
http://www.heavenlytreasures.com/w5713-pink.html

The back of the watch is probably made by punching sheet metal
I know that when the back is round than it is screwed on but
I found this image of a rectangular shaped watch
and it looks like it is forced in mechanically, that's how the cheap watches are done and also the
expensive watches
the fit has to be perfect and made so that it is firmly in the case

CamBam help (General usage) / 20EDM
« on: March 16, 2011, 12:04:45 pm »
20EDM
I know someone and he has this machine.
I took a look at it and I think it was folded and not opened up because it didn't look exactly like this machine on youtube.
But it did write 20EDM on it.
He asked me if I would be able to use it.
What I would like to know from this forum is can I make files on Cambam and start machining with 20EDM.

Also I have never used a CNC machine but I have done lots of work with Rhino and  a bit with Cambam.
Under these conditions what are some of the things I should pay attention to  so I can start using 20EDM.

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

I know that you cant mill that rhino logo on a clynder with 3 axis
what i would like to know is to have that pieace milled
can it also be done with indexed 5 axis

It has been a while since I started playing around with CamBam and I like it very much
This is mostly a learning experiece
Hopefully I will buy the pro version and start making money from this.
This is a problem I have had in my mind for a few days and I am not able to find the answer
I cant tell the difference between the
 2.5D Profile function and
Pocketing operaton.

For example
http://www.cambam.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=775.0
why is he using 2.5D Profile instead of Pocketing operaton

How to's and tutorials / Why alter the G-code

G81 Drill (no pecks)
If you watch this video
He goes to the mach program and he removes the top part of the page and adds
G99
G28
I thought it would be enough to just convert the file to G-code and feed it to the mach program and start running the cnc mill
Whats all this extra stuff

How to's and tutorials / I would like to build a machine like this.
« on: October 17, 2009, 16:49:45 pm »
Hi

I am not really sure where is topic belongs but I am posing here If it needs to be changed thats fine

I would like to build a machine like this.
http://img27.imageshack.us/i/77262053.jpg/
As you can see it is fairly simple machine.
I am sure that I will have to make some parts manually to have things all toghether.

Feature No 1
The area where I have written 1 this is a
Sliding Table with Calibrated Wheels and Swivel Table

Here I need to be able to work on x and y axis

Feature No 2
Where I have written number 2 that is simply to have a
up and down mechanism with some kind of a stop lever.

Feature No 3
Where I have written number 3 I would like to be able to turn that 360 degrees

What I would like from you is to know which parts you can supply and at how much

Thank You

Problem dxf files etc... / Making a simpe pendant
« on: October 08, 2009, 17:36:13 pm »
Hi Folks!
As an experiment I am playing around with this file.
It was made with Rhino and I saved it as dxf
I opened it with CadBam and I wanted to have the gcode

I made the outer circle later on with cadbam

This is the message I got when I went to Cad--creategcode file
Unhandled exception has accured.....

My objective working with a pieace of  wax that is 1 eight of an inch thick
1) On a square plate of wax cut out the outer circle.
2) carve the name frank but dont go all the way through
only half way through the wax
3) Go over the hockey player figure with a tools that is 1 sixteenths of an inch wide
The depth will be half way through the wax
4) The part that is inside the hockey player I would like to cut it half way through the wax
and remove all of that pieace
5) make a 1 eight of an inch hole near the top of the pendant

Thanks
