Hi
I can't seem to get the outer shape to join on the bottom two parts.  The top one joined okay it has some thing to do with when I mirror the part before I join just not sure what.
Second problem is that if you click around the work space you will activate the Tabs uses from previous layers which can become frustrating when you are want to move or join a part the Tab moves.

I have windows 10 and the computer in a month old.
See attached file, as always all help greatly appreciated.

CamBam help (General usage) / Moving Cam Styles across to new machine
« on: November 30, 2017, 02:05:01 am »
Hi, I need help.
Running windows 10 and I can't seem to find were the Cam Stles resides on the old machine after it was upgraded to 10  so I can transfer it across to the new computer.  I can't seem to find were CAM Styles is on the new computer when I loaded up the new version of CAMBAM.  Even using the search function doesn't bring it up.
Any ideas to save my ass would be greatly appreciated.

CamBam help (General usage) / Gcode help
« on: February 16, 2015, 18:59:01 pm »
Can some one tell me how I can have two axis move at different speed in GCode.  I need to be able to be able to drive "Y" axis at on speed for 23 mm and also "A" axis at a different speed for 270 degree.  I don't want to go through learning CNC wrap so I was just going to hand code part of the program to do the job.
I may wrongly be assuming that if the one line of code has two feed rates the last rate applies to all instruction on the line
G1 Y23.0 F40 G1 A 270 F80

The reason is I am trying to make the below item.

Hi all, been a while,
As the topic says I am considering the possibilities to mill a foam block to make a buck for a fibreglass panel on a car.  Given that I use Cam Bam all the time I figure I will use it on this job.  My plan is to build a large router 2.5m by 2m by 900mm  that can work in 5 planes instead of trying to deal with the complexities of 5 axis software etc.

So does anyone have suggestions or advise on the best way to approach this job.

CamBam help (General usage) / Trying to cheat but its not working.
« on: July 03, 2013, 07:40:38 am »
I am trying something different,
I drew this line on the XY plane and If I rotate it 90 degrees around the X axis its all good, then if I apply transformations then the arcs go out of line.  Don't know if what I want to do is asking to much from the program but what I plan to do is to cut on the line so the cutter will follow the line up and down.  Have done it on sloping line and its worked great, so not sure why the arcs don't like it.

Any ideas or suggestions.

Members Projects / Proof CamBam is for the heavy user.
« on: February 07, 2013, 04:05:30 am »
Need to design and cut a upright for my race car, wasn't sure of the design so I purchused a couple of blocks of steel plate.  They are 270mm by 270mm by 60mm weighing in at a record 37kg each (I had to carry each one down the stairs so its correct).  The cad said that the final design was going to weight in at 3.4kg which ment CamBam and I had to put the block of steel on a serious weight reduction program.  By using a type of Trochiodal milling and spiral cuts we cut steel like butter, made chips like there was no tomorrow.

Given that this was serious cutting I was really impress how well it all came together using CamBam, got to love the software, great job Andy very impressed with what it can do.  I used a 16mm corn cutter end mill to do the heavy work and it flew, cut steel as if it was butter.  Cut 1mm per pass 12.5mm deep and wait for it at 2,000mm per minute.  When I first wrote the code I put it at 1,200mmper min thinking I would have to slow it down instead I had to speed it up and the cutter loved it.

Anyway enough talk here are some pics.

and the final product ontop of  pice of the steel I started with.

Hi all,
The challange I have is how do I mill of the counter weights on a crankshaft out of a car.  I am not being stupid or on drugs just want to move out side the square on engine development.

The engine is a Subaru flat 6 cyclinder and my logic is that the design of the crank means that each cyclinder has a match next to it that is 180 dgrees offset.  It is logical that the cyclinders will balance themselves as well so why have counter weights as well.  By doing this we will lighten the crank as well as reduce the load on the shaft.

I will try to do a CAD but I would like to end up with a oval shape going from the mains to the bigend if that makes sense.

My problem is how do I get the cutter to stay at a tangent to the oval at all times when I spin the crank on its 4th axis.  Being a 6 cyclinder there will be 6 individual ovals, it is possiable that they are all identical just have a different 4th axis position.

Thinking it through assuming the 4th axis is spinning along the X then the code will have to deal with 4th, X & Z.

Any ideas????

Members Projects / Mid engine car Subframe jig
« on: October 26, 2012, 23:17:36 pm »
I am doing a crazy thing and moving the engine from the front into the mid position as part of that I need to build a new rear subframe for the car strong enough to take the weight of the engine and gearbox.  To build the jig I need to drill and mill the plate plus tidy up the angle on the RHS so the jig is square.  Attached is a PDF of the plan, the red part is the subframe that I aim to finish with.  To get a ideal match at the pipe juctions I am going to mill end of the pipe were possiable.

CamBam help (General usage) / Keeping note with in CamBam
« on: September 05, 2012, 00:11:08 am »
I have got my self to a point were I am pumping whole projects into one CamBam file.  This file may contain 10 different parts each with different machine plans etc.
What I would like to be able to do is attach note to the CamBam file not within the GCode but say have them attached to the section in CamBam that I may have allocated the Part containing the MOP.  These notes might cover how to clamp the part or which side of the part to machine first.

I just checked and my Dry Sump CamBam file is 14.5meg so there is a lot of info that would make it easy to get confused.

So can I keep notes with in CamBam.

I have milled the new main sump pan from a 32mm thick alum plate weight started at 8kg the finished sump came in at 3kg.

CamBam help (General usage) / tool path goes screwy with 3d face.
« on: July 05, 2012, 06:31:17 am »
This file is a dry sump for a race car, my issues is that the tool path on the 3d face results in the tool crashing through the work job and I don't know why.  Also it seems to cut around a bolt hole that is not part of the boundry box.  Bolt is on the far right.

All help greatly appricated.

Lathes and Turning / Couple of Lathe questions
« on: June 16, 2012, 21:17:31 pm »
On the Lathe version of CamBam I was wonder the following,

1     How do I reverse the X direction so the X + is going up instead of down, this would also mean that the cutting face can be at the top?
2     When I call CutViewer how can I change it to be the "Turn" version?
3     Andy is there any sign of changes to the program on the horizon in particular the entry and exit off the cutter as it tend to cause issues.

Other wise its all good I am working throught a way to do things.
