Installation Help / Crash when Draw Text is selected - Solved !
« on: October 12, 2020, 01:16:11 am »
I have had the Windows 64bit version 1.0 installed and running fine for months, and now this.

When I click on Draw Text from either the T icon or the menu, I get the exception window below.
Just prior to this session, I had loaded the CamBam StickFonts into Windoze.  Ok, I uninstalled them, same issue.
Well, then I uninstalled the 64bit version and loaded the 32bit, and it throws the same exception, still no StickFonts installed.
Next step, uninstall CamBam, go through the Windows files and clear out the left over files from the removals, reboot, install the 32bit version 1.0.  Same exception.

Any thoughts?

CamBam help (General usage) / Stock surface question
« on: March 12, 2015, 23:59:26 pm »
I'm running a pocket op to shave 1mm off my stock, and then running a drill op as a separate part.  In that drill part, I'm setting the Stock surface to -1, and the Target depth to -5.  My expectation was to see the drill op reach a target depth of 5mm below the finished surface with a Z-6, but it doesn't.  The gcode generated shows the drill op going to Z-5 so my hole ends up at -4 below the surface.

Any ideas?  Does the Stock surface do something else?
Attached are the files.

TIA,
Rick

CamBam help (General usage) / multiple tools
« on: February 25, 2015, 03:34:43 am »
When I set up a job with multiple operations and the same tool, I set the machine origin to half of the tool diameter and outside of the stock area.  So, with a 10mm tool, I set the machining origin to -5,-5 and a stock offset of 5,5.  I do this at the part level, just under the Machining level.

Now I am trying to use different tool diameters in the same output file with manual tool changes.  I have tried to set each part as above, which isn't working.  Under Machining, I have a R2 with a couple of drill ops, a R3 with some more, and a R4 with a few more.  Set the R2 to 2mm tool, machining origin of -1,-1 and stock offset of 1,1.  Likewise for the R3, a 3mm tool machining origin at -1.5,-1.5 stock offset at 1.5,1.5 and R4 the same scenerio.  Disaster.

Can someone shed some light on how I should be doing this?  I can get the output file to send the spindle off for the tool change and resume from where the program left off, but the holes are not getting drilled where I'd like them to be.

TIA,
Rick

CamBam help (General usage) / coordinates off if not in XY view
« on: February 25, 2015, 02:32:47 am »
CamBam plus [0.9] Rel 8P (beta-2)

I've noticed that the coordinates in the bottom right corner are totally out of wack if you switch from viewing in the XY plane to either XZ or YZ.  Both Windoze and Linux.  Trying to use the Measure tool to check a toolpath is also messed up.

Should it work or not?

TIA,
Rick

CamBam help (General usage) / G0 before G81 ?
« on: February 25, 2015, 02:21:40 am »
CamBam plus [0.9] Rel 8P (beta-2)

I'm consistently seeing what seems like a redundant step and wondering if there is a reason it is done this way.

Every initial G81 has a G0 to the same location before it.

M3 S1000
G0 X5.25 Y26.25
G98
G81 X5.25 Y26.25 Z-4.0 R12.0 F100.0
G81 X21.25 Z-4.0 R12.0
G81 Y6.25 Z-4.0 R12.0
G81 X5.25 Z-4.0 R12.0
G80
( Drill2 )
S1000
G0 Z12.0
G0 Y26.25
G98
G81 X5.25 Y26.25 Z-8.0 R12.0 F100.0
G81 X21.25 Z-8.0 R12.0
G81 Y6.25 Z-8.0 R12.0
G81 X5.25 Z-8.0 R12.0

Can anyone shed some light here?

TIA,
Rick

CamBam help (General usage) / Measure an angle?
« on: March 13, 2013, 18:48:24 pm »
I'm using CamBam plus [0.9] Rel 8N (rc-8) and trying to measure an angle.  I've Googled and searched the forum.

So far, the only way I've found is to create a straight line with one end on the apex of the angle I want to measure, and then use the Rotate function on that line to arc over and read the results.

Is there another, easier way, similar to the Measure tool? Maybe a keyboard modifier to measure an arc?
If not, would it be possible to add an arc measuring tool?

CamBam help (General usage) / CamBam Plus and VirtualBox ?
« on: February 13, 2010, 02:38:10 am »
CamBam Plus 0.9.7f on VirtualBox 3.12

My host is Ubuntu 9.10 and I'm having the same problem on both a WinXP and a Win7 guest.  I have tried it with and without the VirtualBox 3D driver from the Guest Additions.

As soon as I move the mouse into the work area, it disappears.  Sigh.

Andy, 10Bulls, thinks it may have to do with OpenGL, but he hasn't messed with VirtualBox yet.

Anyone have it working ?
