Scripts and Plugin Help / Re: Alternative python script editor?
« on: March 01, 2020, 18:43:41 pm »
Thank you, David! I have already installed that plugin, but I didn't think of the possibility to just save the script in my script editor and then run in from the menu, instead of the cut and paste.

Now I have even made a simple ahk script so I can open CamBam and run a specific script just with a keyboard shortcut!

Thank you for the fast reply! Yes, then I just copy and paste. It would be nice if it at least was possible to run scripts with a command line argument (cambam.exe script.py) :)

Scripts and Plugin Help / Alternative python script editor?

Hi,

I have just started with scripting (python) in Cambam. Is it possible to use an alternative scripting editor (e.g. Sublime text) instead of the very limited built in text editor?

I tried your plugin today and it is very cool!

For rest machining it would have been really nice if it was possible to choose between correcting inner corners, outer corners or both.

I hope you add this feature in next version!

CamBam help (General usage) / Re: cambam and shopbot

It seems like I was a bit tired when I wrote my last post.. The y-axis is not reversed, the axes are just rotated 90 degrees.

And I found out this week that the Shopbot is luckily understanding canned cycle g-code (G80, G81, G82, G83, G98) for holes!

I have attached the updated Shopbot post processor I'm using now.

I tried the Shopbot post processor today and it worked fine on the Shopbot!

One question: The y-axis is inverted on the Shopbot I'm using. How can I fix this in CamBam?

Thank you, David!

I found this archived page about Shopbot and g-code: https://web.archive.org/web/20160903021058/http://shopbotwiki.com/index.php?title=GCodeMain

It seems like it should have been M3 in the Fusion 360 file. Normally I use the OpenSbp post processor in Fusion, but it seems more difficult to make an sbp post processor in CamBam.

I do not use coolant so I don't need M8/M9.

I will try the CamBam g-code next week on the Shopbot and see if it works!

Hi,

I wonder if anyone has made a working post processor for Shopbot?

This is the only thread I found about the subject in this forum, and the post processor Lloyd posted generates a quite different g-code from the VCarve code from niner_zero. I have also compared it with the Shopbot Iso post processor in Fusion 360 and they make a bit different code (but I don't know enough about g-code to evaluate the differences and if it will work on the Shopbot).

CamBot seems like a very nice Cam program, but I can't use it without a working post processor for the Shopbot I'm using..
