Installation Help / Re: Crash when Draw Text is selected - Solved !!!
« on: October 12, 2020, 14:37:26 pm »
Windows 10 Pro, version 1909, M$ says my system isn't ready to be upgraded  to 2004 yet ...
Haven't used CamBam in a while so there have been a few Windoze updates and I haven't used Draw Text in a very long time.
When I reinstalled CamBam, it was after deleting all the leftover files, folders and plugins from the removal and no additional plugins were added, just what the .msi file installed.  Haven't added back in the StickFonts yet.

Ok, problem now solved per the above link.  For anyone else that runs into this, here are the steps:

The following solution is a workaround until Microsoft fixes the issue with an update.

To perform the following steps, you need to have administrator rights on your computer.

Close all open documents and programs on your computer.
Press the Windows key.
Type Settings.
Select Time & Language.
Click Language.
Under Related settings, click Administrative language settings.
On the Region window, click the Administrative tab.
Click Change system locale. Here you will need administrator rights.
Clear the Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support checkbox.
Click OK.
Restart your computer.

Thanks for the quick reply and solution !!!

Installation Help / Crash when Draw Text is selected - Solved !
« on: October 12, 2020, 01:16:11 am »
I have had the Windows 64bit version 1.0 installed and running fine for months, and now this.

When I click on Draw Text from either the T icon or the menu, I get the exception window below.
Just prior to this session, I had loaded the CamBam StickFonts into Windoze.  Ok, I uninstalled them, same issue.
Well, then I uninstalled the 64bit version and loaded the 32bit, and it throws the same exception, still no StickFonts installed.
Next step, uninstall CamBam, go through the Windows files and clear out the left over files from the removals, reboot, install the 32bit version 1.0.  Same exception.

Any thoughts?

I had to also add the change directory command to my start script on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.

I found the ~/CamBam1.0/cambam.sh sets the LD_LIBRARY_PATH and tried to put that file in the
~/Desktop/CamBam.desktop file, but that wasn't enough.

Maybe add the change directory to the ~/CamBam1.0/cambam.sh in the next release ?

~/CamBam1.0/cambam.sh :
#!/bin/bash
LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$(pwd)"
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH
mono --verify-all CamBam.exe
# mono --debug CamBam.exe

~/Desktop/CamBam.desktop :
[Desktop Entry]
Type=Application
Version=1.0
Name=CamBam
Icon=/home/rick/CamBam1.0/CamBam.png
Exec=/home/rick/start-cambam
MimeType=
Categories=Graphics;3DGraphics;Engineering;

~/start-cambam :
#!/bin/bash
# mono files are in ~/.config
LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$(pwd)"
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH
cd ~/CamBam1.0
mono --verify-all CamBam.exe &

Latest News / Re: CamBam plus V1.0 (Linux development release)

May also want to update the CamBam1.0-mono.system.tgz files.  The size on disk is larger than the one I had from my previous install of CamBam1.0 on Linux.

For me, on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, the new alpha16-64bit is a lot faster on startup and seems snappier.

Very happy, Thanks for the hard work !!!

CamBam plus [1.0] Rel 12 installed today on Ubuntu 17.04
mono-complete installed

If I rename the GRBLMachinePlugin.dll to something else, CamBam starts up perfectly.  CamBam.CAD.Solids.dll doesn't cause any problem.

I changed the cambam.sh to enable the mono debug, and get the same output as above.

Any ideas on how to further debug and fix this?

TIA,
Rick

Yep, there it is, buried under the Property Editor.   Agghhh, hate when that happens ...

First off, thanks for this fantastic plugin!

Not to be picky, but I just loaded the version 0.9.6 and can't find the grbl Machine tab 'About' dropdown anymore.  Is there another way to verify the installed version of the plugin?

TIA,
Rick

Post Processors (*.cbpp) / Re: Dynapath Delta 20 Post and stuff

Lloyd, he is talking about the warning messages being created in the message area when he generates the gcode, as you mentioned a few posts back.

I never figured out how to stop it, but knew the gcode generated when I saw the messages.  ;D

Hmm, here is what I did when I worked on a DynaPath earlier this year:

Click on the System tab in CB, then open the tree for the Post Processors.
Click on your DynaPath post processor.
In the Main section below, click on the ... at the end of the Footer line, mine looks like:
Code: [Select]
{$clearance}
{$spindle(off)}
{$endrewind}
{$cbfile.footer}
E
Drop down further to the Line Numbering section, and this is what I have for Line Number Skip:
Code: [Select]
%O(:;#E

Any chance this can be updated to show the button state correctly in the View tab check boxes?  The check boxes seem to be ignored now.

This should do it, also the other way round, i.e. if the View menu check boxes are changed, the buttons will update.

Just to prevent confusion, this is the most recent version at 27th May 2015.

Thanks !!!!!

How do I stop it from also saving cb.b2 files at the same time ?

Tools -> Options -> File Backups

The default is 3, change as you like.
