Is CV Mill Viewer free now?  Or is what I'm seeing for CV Mill 3.2 something different?

CamBam help (General usage) / Re: SUPER SLOW refresh times on the CB site

Though I can't be sure this is true for this instance of the CB site being slow, I've experienced similar super slow to unavailable issues with other forum sites I belong to that have attributed this to AI bots copying all data that can be scrubbed from their webservers.

Bug Reports / Re: NumMove Plugin V 1.2.0.62 Bug with CB1.0 and Win11 Pro

dh42 and EddyCurrent, much appreciate the two of you looking into this.  Eddy thanks for confirming the ubiquitous Windows Ctrl-V paste method worked when pasting the measured value into a Draw Text/Edit Text window but not when pasting in the Numeric move text fields.

dh42, I'm not sure if I was ever aware that right-clicking in one of the Transform > Numeric move, Num move axis input boxes popped up a menu with this "Paste" option.

Now I know, many thanks.  And it works!

Bug Reports / NumMove Plugin V 1.2.0.62 Bug with CB1.0 and Win11 Pro
« on: October 02, 2025, 04:20:31 am »
Hi folks, long time since I've posted on CB forum and apologize for not discussing a more positive topic.

I'm a more occasional user of CB1.0 these days, maybe 3 or 4 times a month.  This past  year I've encounter problems when taking a linear Measurement, expecting the measure value to be copied to the clip board and using the value with 'paste' in other value entry methods without problem.  Sometimes when I need to use a measured value copied and pasted into the NumMove plugin X,Y or Z value nothing gets pasted.  I have to manually type in the measured value.

Today, and as a safety measure I selected the numeric value and ctrl-C'd it, with the polygon object selected and using the NumMov plugin no 'copied' value would paste into the X or Y fields.

I'm sure this worked when I was on Win10 Pro and CB1.0.

I found several topics on a bug with the NumMove plugin on this forum that seemed to be identical to what I described above but it was an issue only in Win10 back in 2019 or so.

Any ideas why this happens?  Any solutions?

Many thanks.

CamBam help (General usage) / Re: CB 1.0 / Win10 Pro 64-bit mouse issue
« on: February 24, 2025, 19:32:31 pm »
While this forum was down I saw the reply from Bob about this issue on cnczone forum and he was right about the Snappy plugin, thanks and well spotted Bob.
I will attach a new version of the Snappy plugin to it's thread, it will change the cursor to a Cross when it's over a snap point.

With this forum being unavailable at times I posted my query for help on the CB section of CNCZone and got a prompt reply from Bob asking if I had the Snappy plugin installed.  (I never got any emails from the CB forum stating there were replies to my query here, oddly enough.)

But yes, I did recently install the Snappy plugin to my CB 1.0 a month or two ago when editing a .cb project that was several years old (a schematic diagram).  I installed the plugin and restarted CB as usual.  Snappy worked wonderfully and I hadn't bothered to check it settings.  It dutifully snapped to on and off grid nodes without hiding the cursor at snap when I needed to move a node during my first session with Snappy.  I loved it!

5-7 weeks passed and I pulled up the same file again to make more changes.  This is when I noticed the cursor disappearing when the mouse hovered over a polyline node point.  At times with the cursor hidden I could move the node to a new position, although it was somewhat of a challenge.  And about half the time, with the cursor hidden, I hadn't actually "snapped" to anything at all in the course of the node move attempt.

It was Bob's raising the Snappy issue that I looked at the Snappy plugin settings again and saw the check mark for "Hide cursor at snap".  I unchecked it and it the cursor stayed in view, as was my initial experience.

Eddy, thank you so much for all you do for us.  Changing the "at snap" cursor to a + sign is a good idea.

Lloyd, I have experienced weird erratic mouse movements under two conditions using Win10 Pro 22H2 and earlier.
1.  After changing to a wireless Logitech mouse when the battery gets too low, or the IR detector LED/lens was dirty (wired or wireless).
2.  Windows is bitchin' because it is past feeding time for a new KB update,  once the update was "eaten" and Windows restarted, all was well.

And thanks to all the rest of you who contribute on this forum!

CamBam help (General usage) / CB 1.0 / Win10 Pro 64-bit mouse issue
« on: February 19, 2025, 21:02:51 pm »
I don't recall this happening before now, but then I'm older than ever before ;-).

Win 10 22H2 OS Build 19045.5487

Using an existing CB 1.0 file that is two years old, after double-clicking a polyline that has multiple nodes and hovering the mouse cursor over a node I want to move...the mouse cursor disappears.  If I have accurately positioned the mouse over the node before it disappears the moment the cursor pointer is over the node, and then left-click to move the node, the node does move, but there is a graphics rendering delay before it shows the node position changing.

CB Options for Graphics mode is Open GL as it has always been during my use since 0.9.8 and 1.0.

Since there have been several Windows updates in addition to installing Microsoft's Visual Studio Code with the PlatformIO plugin and all its JS requirements I am wondering whether this is related to the strange cursor behavior I am now seeing in CB 1.0.

BTW:  It does this regardless of Display Graphics Mode being Open GL or GDI.  Also, the latest .NET version is in effect that is much newer than V4.5 and most likely current.

Any ideas anyone?  Thanks in advance.

A Merry, Merry Christmas CB forum members!

Also keep in mind that you copy the log window text to Windows' clipboard and then paste to a text file etc. using this plugin, http://www.atelier-des-fougeres.fr/Cambam/Aide/Plugins/MessageLogCopy.html

Thanks, and yes, this is what I wound up doing.  For me this is an extremely useful plugin since I use CB as a "general" technical drawing tool far more than I use it to generate machining operations for my CNC machine.

Right, Lloyd.  And that's what is great about CB and the CB family.

Many thanks Eddy!

I love it!

When I do a "Select All" drawn objects in a .cb file, I don't seem to find an obvious way to see a total number for them.

Is this possible or what is the secret.

Thanks in advance.

Cannot imagine a BIOS setting possibly related to this.

Not knowing the age of the laptop, BIOS settings may not always be automatically be detected and set properly, e.g. memory type and speed as an example, CPU clock speed or over-clocking speed if set, etc.

Also, I just noticed your initial comment, "I just reinstalled Win 10...because of this problem".  This may not have also applied all updates unless the reinstall was from a recently created recovery disk, otherwise with a network connection Windows would be polling to see if updates need to be applied.  If there are a bunch to do, this will really slow down the computer until they are done.  When running 32-bit CB 1.0 make sure it runs in Compatibility Mode, otherwise if your CPU is a 64-bit use the CB 64-bit version.

I've almost always noticed that when any application takes an unusually long, long time to open, something else is running in the background prioritizing CPU allocations.  Most often this is Windows downloading or installing updates without notifying you.

A good way to test if this is the case while CB is slow to open is to open Task Manager and ensure it is showing the "More Details" mode.
Press CTRL+Shift+ESC to open Task Manager.

If CB (or other app) is slow to open, Windows is general busy with background tasks.  If Task Manager will open quickly or in a more timely manner, click on the CPU column header to see what processes are prioritizing CPU as a percentage of available CPU clocks.  Somewhere in the Process Name column you will see CB listed and its relative CPU priority.  It is also useful to click on other column headers such as Network to see it as the priority view of Task Manager.

Keep us informed.

W10Pro, 22H2, clean OS install, with CamBam only installed, no improvement. Tried both CamBam 32- and 64-bit versions, scratch install without any plugins or modification... Several W10 restarts does not help. I had a suspicion this might be related to Windows updates but problem persists even with Windows updates disabled for several months and many many restarts.

Hoping for dev team reply like "please turn on this cambam setting and send us log file"...

To me, this result points in the direction of your computer or its BIOS settings.

I think you may have hit upon a point, knocker.  The question is "what else do you use your Winblows system for, besides CamBam"?

Mine is my general-purpose shop computer -- email, web browsing, CAD, CAM, math softs, chemistry softs, word processing, billing, spreadsheets...the whole thing.

Perhaps restricting myself to only CamBam would limit the problems I have.

Lloyd

Sorry if I left a wrong impression.  My Win10 computer is multi-purpose as well, I just do not always use CB for creating CNC milling files.  In fact, my CNC work is very infrequent lately.

I can attest that not having all updates installed can cause Win10 to run at a random crawl when doing almost anything, including just booting up.  After all recommended (not optional) updates were applied my computer's speed normalized again.  Another thing that may help is to open the C:\Windows\Temp folder and delete any ".tmp" files in this folder whose file date is older than "todays" date.

Addendum: I should have added for those unaware that you should have file explorer set to view file extensions, hidden and system files, plus be logged in with admin equivalence.
