CamBam help (General usage) / Pocketing solution neede
« on: July 22, 2022, 14:00:28 pm »
I've got some pockets that are half lap joints I need to mill. Problem is is it is leaving these pesky rounded corners which does not allow the joints to fit together properly. What is the best method of cleaning up these round corners. Sure i can do some hand editing and get the results that I need but this does take a little extra time . Gotta be a quick a dirty for this. Thanks for any and all help on this matter.

I gave a close look yesterday and cleaned the collet and bits also.Checked for run out on the Musclechuck and found that it was misaligned so I corrected that. It's amazing what the results are. Problem solved. I do like the quick change setup and would recommend it. Thanks for all of the input from everyone. Ran it all day long with no problems!

Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated. I have been using cheap Shielded security wiring for years and no problems as far as flexibility. The problem is  when you put heat while soldering to the pins the jacket on the wire will melt. Arrrg. Found some 20mm aviation style connectors which enable 18 gauge wire to be used. I am using 22 gauge. Gonna give this a try and see what happens.

I purchased a used Hoffman cabinet and it came with a 19 pin Amphenol connector, I did manage finding out that the mate to the mounted connector is a 211722. I have 22 gauge wire running to my motors and plan on using 18 gauge inside the the cabinet all shielded of course. Question is I need to come up with crimp style pins and sockets. What do I order for these fine connectors?.I  know info is skechy at best just not familiar with the product. And ah yes how to dress up the end coming from the motors.  Thanks for any help on this matter I really need to get this monster up and running again.

CamBam help (General usage) / Clamp style Soldering iron?
« on: June 17, 2022, 22:42:15 pm »
Who makes such a device, just watched a video on you tube and the guy was using a clamp style soldering device on amphenol connectors. Yes the pins were already mounted in the connector and this device allowed him to solder wire into the connector without heating unwanted pins First time for everything. I have since found out that this is referred to as resistance soldering.

Is there a particular brand of shielded wiring that is desirable for wiring steppers. Nema 23 18.8 watt motors is what i am using. Thanks for any input.

Thanks David. I guess that I need to add a couple of additional steps to examining cb files especially when a problem exists. Short and sweet video.

Is it allowable to put a vfd inside the same enclosure as BOB and gecko drives. Just bought a 30x24x12m big enclosure right. Everything will fit but what noise. Thanks for the input.

I need to look at the cable a little closer but keep in mind that the red led is responding when E stop is activated on the smooth stepper but not the pmdx126.  A little more info on the pmdx, when i hit the arrow buttons for jogging the steps led on the pmdx will flicker. I am starting to think that this maybe port and pin assignment in mach 3, an example is x axis step pin 2 and direction pin 3 and port 1 for step port and direction port 1. Question is does the step and direction port stay the same for LPT on ethnet. Thanks  for the input. The purchase was made thru Automation Direct
