Post processor Cambam for Prover XL 6050
« on: January 24, 2023, 18:06:33 pm »
Hello,
I am a woodworker, manufacturing mainly wooden games. I live in SW of France, Pays Basque.
I have decided to use CNC to improve my games design and speed up the manufacturing.
I have bought a Prover XL 6050 and I try to use Cambam to define my part machining (Cambam seems relatively easy to use).
I have probably a problem with the post processor, because when sending my gcode to the machine (using Candle software), it does nolt work ... I have tried the default, then GRBL, then Mach3 post processor, but unsucessfully !
Is somebody able to let me know which post processor to use to communicate effectively with my machine ?
Many thanks in advance, best regards,
Arduinna

Hello

For a GRBL machine, you must use the GRBL post pro.

What happen exactly when you try to run your Gcode, do you get an error message ?

Note that you can also drive the machine directly from CamBam with the following plugin. (it replace Candle) the plugin use its own post pro.

And, welcome to our group!  We seldom see (I presume) female participants here, and we welcome you.

I do not speak French (as does David), but I will contribute as I can.

Thank you so much for your welcome. Except that I'm not female (Arduinna is the name of my micro-enterprise, it was the name of the Celtic Goddess of the Woods).
So to come back to my problem :
when I send the file with Candle, the spindle goes to the starting point of the milling, then stops, and no more ...
I get the error code 20. I attach a PDF showing what appears on the screen.
Thank you for your help.
Best regards (cordialement ...)
Arduinna

ps : I had a look to the Cambam plugin, but I have not seen management of the Z-probe, which is a drawback ...

Even though it stops at the (T0:3.0), it appears to me as if it's balking at the move to Z=10.

Normally, the TOP of the work is considered Z=0, and everything goes negative below that.  Perhaps your machine (or Candle) isn't configured to move as far positive in Z as 10 units.  I've never used Candle, so I can't help with that.

What does Candle say an 'Error 20' is?

Hello

certainly it is because GRBL do not handle M6 (toolchange)

you can use the PP "GRBL_noTC" that do not use Tn M6

Hello,

I have tried this new post-processor, but still it does not work. There is no more error codes, but the spindle goes to the milling starting point, stops there and then nothing more. I wonder if there is not an option in Cambam that cause this stopping, and waiting for something ?
I will have a look to that.
Anyway, hopefully, I don't have any problem when using Carveco. It works perfectly. The only drawback is that Carveco is more expensive than Cambam and more complex to use (in my opinion ...).
Thanks,

Arduinna

I'll bet it's waiting for a tool change!  If that's the case, pressing your equivalent of 'cycle start' should continue the job.

If the GRBL_noTC PP is used, no toolchange are sorted at all in the Gcode.

@Arduinna: can you share your GCode and your CamBam file for investigations ?

Hello,

You will find enclosed :
- the Cambam model,
- the associated g-code,
- a hardcopy of Candle screen when the problem occurs.
Thanks,
Arduinna

ps : in the meantime, I will try tu use UGS instead of Candle. Perharps ?

Hello

I can't find any problem in the Gcode nor G or M code that are not handled by GRBL (1.1) ...

It run fine on Mach3 or on the NCnetic simulator ...

Yes, and you can also try to drive the machine from Cambam with the GRBLmachine plugin.

Does the spindle start running, and properly come up to speed 10000?

The spindle won't start because you have turned it off in the previous statement.
without turning it back on with a M3.
I ran the code through two different Gcode senders they both worked.
