Tangential blade
« on: September 16, 2023, 15:48:28 pm »
I'm considering an attachment to my machine to hold a knife or pizza wheel cutter. Is there a feature in Cambam that can send g-code to an axis that would keep the blade tangent to the cut?

Short answer, No.

There is plugin for drag knife only.

I know of no specific feature in CB to do that, but I think a post-build processor could derive that information and calculate it, if you chose arc-segments small enough.

If you want to use tangential cutter the spindle needs to indexable. Or build attachment that hold stepper motor and drive it as A drive..

Bubba, yes.

But you still need the code to drive it.  Do you have a post-processor that will do that?

No, but maybe your driving software can do it ; it is the case with Mach3 and UCCNC. In this case no needs to create a specific GCode.

Thanks for the input. Too bad I'm not using Mach3 on this machine, the software doesnt have that function.

Small business in Florida, he builds the CNCs and did all the programming, custom running software.  Fantastic support, i.e. I asked him and he said he'd program that feature in for me
