Ubuntu Mate - Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS - Not Run
« on: November 05, 2023, 07:22:04 am »
Fresh install of Ubuntu Mate, then Cambam 1.0.

The install seemed Ok, no errors reported.
CB won't open, no errors reported.

I already have CB operating on a separate machine with Lubuntu 22.04 LTS.
The test with Ubuntu Mate is to see if that overcomes the dreaded 'Alt+Left Mouse' scroll issue.

My next move is to update the Mate to 22.04
If someone knows for sure that Mate suffers the same problem with scrolling, let me know and I will try another distribution.

John.

Does this thread offer any clue ? it's about the same subject.

A number of years back Andy told me that Linux Mint might be the best distro for CamBam

Thanks for the help, Linux Mint is now on the list.

Lubuntu does not have any options to vary the key bindings, and editing the rc.xml files was not fruitful for me.

I will concentrate on getting CB working on Ubuntu Mate as I know I have done something wrong.
Starting with re-reading the install instructions,
This lesson has to be learned before jumping off into something else.

Not sure this can help (I'm not a linux user) but on my Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, no problem to use ALT + Left clic to rotate view, I just changed the shortcut for "Move Windows" in Settings - Keyboard, shortcut tabs, windows item of Ubuntu.

Thanks for the comment on Ubuntu 14.04.

Got CB working on Ubuntu Mate 22.04.
3D scroll with "Alt-Left Mouse" does not work.

Installed Ubuntu 20.04 with Ubuntu Mate as alternative boot.
The "Alt-Left Mouse" 3D scroll works fine under Ubuntu.

So, now to try out Linux Mint.

Hello, I use ubuntu 22.04.3 64 and everything runs well..
I use the script for starting Cambam as described in the forum, and I installed mono complete.

I think the linux version of Cambam has some problems without the license file.

My 2 cents,

Andrea

Does anyone have copy and paste/drag and drop working on the Linux version of CamBam? I find it practically unusable without those two features so I frequently have to reboot into Windows.

Copy/paste work for me.
But only in the working instance of CB. Although it allows starting a second CB instance copy/paste between the two do not work.

I guess it must be a compatibility bug with different versions of Mono. I'm currently on Kubuntu 23.04 with Mono 6.8.0.105+dfsg-3.3 amd64, but it also didn't work for me on the previous two releases of Kubuntu.

Are you able to reorder items in the Drawing tab (particularly the order of machining operations) by dragging and dropping them? Nothing happens when I try to drag an item.

Other things are broken too, e.g. several dialog boxes have blank buttons.

Because things work for me I am still with Ubuntu Mate - 18.04.5
As for Mono, I have frozen it at version 5.12 because after that funny things started to happen with font sizes.
Yes, I can drag MOP's. Inside the part or between parts.
One thing that doesn't work is copy/paste a Trochoidal pocket MOP. I suppose this is because it is external to CamBam, developed by a user. In Windows copy/pasting it works though. The MOP itself works in Linux.
