Additional color request
« on: April 29, 2007, 17:40:21 pm »
Hi Andy,

Great to see the new release and this blog! The single thread at CNCZone was gaining pages. This makes it easier to zero in on a topic.

I have a request for your consideration: I normally work with a white background (old Mac Head). Could you add a color entry in CamBam Options for drawing elements? Currently they default to white, even when a white background is selected. I'm currently running with "Silver" as a background.

Side note... while initially setting the background color by numbers (old DeskTop Publishing Head too), I discovered eventually the value separators are commas... data entries in the CAM area use periods. I like the option you added at startup for selecting inches or milimeter. Could that same routine set the separator character used in all entries? Us folks here in the "Colonies" get confused with things like that. Won't even get into which side of the road to drive on.  ;)

Thanks yet again for all the great work, and thanks to Mr. Bean for jumping in with his talents... MachSteelBlue is the Mach3 screen I use.

Hiya Paul, nice to see some familiar faces.  :o

I've always had colour themes on my todo list.  I could do with dark on light when I get a lot of sun glare on my monitors.  Should be straight forward so i'll try get that in sooner than later.

The separator thing is a surprise.  I know europeans do funny things with periods and commas but I thought you lot were more civilised.  At the moment the program runs under "US" locality setting so that delimiters are always consistent between DXF and XML files regardless of locality.
Was it just colours (you're going to give me grief for the spelling next, i know ;) ) that you want period delims, like an ip address?

OK Paul, you're on my list!

Hi Andy,

Is that the naughty, or nice list?  ;)

I noticed the comma delimiters used for entry of 8-bit values for color (I guess colour if I use my last name... Chamberlain) in CamBam Tools/Options. Choosing color from the drop down pallete eliminates the issue, of course.

I started drafting way back in the 60's when paper used was white or light green. I switched from CPM/DOS computers to Macs back in the mid 80's. The white background typically used on the Mac back then (you could have any colors on the screen you wanted... as long as they were black or white) was more comfortable viewing for my mind's eye. Old dog thing.

And civilized?... We work hard just so we can afford to go out in the woods on time off. We sleep on the ground in shelters made out of woven cloth. Cook on an open fire and eat food seasoned with twigs and a little dirt. Get bites from every bug that flies or crawls. Don't bathe or shave... and the nearest tree or bush takes care of other needs.

I guess we have a ways to go to be civilized, but we are a stubborn lot.  ;D
