I'm back a year after this
https://cambamcnc.com/forum/index.php?topic=10625.0And I still haven't done any 3D work! In the end I just wanted rid of my mate's stool backs and cut them from flat plywood !
This time I want to make some spherical speakers from layers of HDF. I will cut 20mm layers with the external spherical surface, and glue them together with dowels for positioning.
I still don't have any 3D modelling skills or programs (I have bought the bits for a capable PC)
Options:
1. Use the side profile tool. I can see how to do this but it will produce a lot free air cutting paths above each slice, which I would have to edit out of the cutting file. That's a nasty solution, but for a one off job, not terrible.
2. Use a spreadsheet to calculate eg 80 cutting circles (radius and depth) and type them into mops. Wouldn't take too long, and not hard work.
3. External 3D tool to produce the geometry I need. Then work out the waterline method.
4. Cambam plugin to produce surface of revolution ??
Give me your input please.
I'll probably start working on option 2 in the meantime.
