Version Check Error
« on: January 08, 2026, 15:47:06 pm »
I got tired of MS Windows and various other updates screwing up my settings so I made my old lap top a dedicated shop computer and disconnected it from the net. So for the last month or so, I've been making my CB files on my primary computer and carrying them to my shop computer with a flash drive.

This error started showing up on my shop computer.

Version Check Error: The remote name could not be resolved: 'www.cambam.co.uk'

Doesn't seem to affect anything transferring files either direction. Does it require attention or just ignore it? See attached screen shot.

Best,
Kelly

In menu, Tools->Options, look for "Check Version At Start" and set it to "False".
Remember to save the settings before closing.

Thanks Eddy. Easy enough and I can do that on the shop dedicated computer. I just didn't know why it appeared. I take it because it could not connect to web to check. Is that so?

If its purpose is checking to make sure the latest version of CB is being used, given the status of CB, not sure that has much utility even on my primary computer.

Best,
Kelly

Hello

Yes, this check for new version of CamBam, and of course if no internet connection this can't work.
