I am planning on making the latest 0.9.8i release the latest stable release within the next day or two.
There are still some outstanding issues that need to be resolved but the plan is to release a new '0.9.8j' release soon after, which will incorporate these changes and undergo another public testing period.
None of the outstanding 0.9.8 issues appear to be major and will be resolved as soon as possible.
0.9.8 fixes a number of bugs and (I believe) is easier, faster and more reliable to use than the current 0.9.7 'stable' release. It would also be preferable for new users to get used to the new 0.9.8 styles of working.
However there have been many significant changes in 0.9.8 including a new CamBam file format that is not compatible with 0.9.7 and earlier releases. Hence we have been a little cautious with 0.9.8 which has enjoyed a rather prolonged public testing period.
The list of new features and changes in 0.9.8 is available here:
http://www.cambam.info/doc/dw/0.9.8/WhatsNew.htmThis announcement is a bit of a heads up that the change to the new stable release is imminent. If you have not tried the new release, now might be a good time.
0.9.7 will still be available for a good while yet and 0.9.8 can be installed and used in parallel on the same PC without affecting each other.
If anyone has any serious issues with 0.9.8 that is preventing moving to it from 0.9.7 then we would love to hear about it.
I would also like to offer a huge thank you to the growing CamBam community that have provided fantastic feedback, inspiration and support throughout the development and testing of this latest version as well as making the CamBam user forum a welcoming and helpful environment for users of all abilities.
Regards
Andy Payne
