3d machining
« on: June 24, 2014, 19:35:09 pm »
Hi All,
would like some advice about the best way to 3d machine. i am building a wooden plaque for a graduation and i want to carve a scroll and a mortar board in 3d. Do i need to get a cad program or can i machine it in cambam with a bitmap picture, i;ve done plenty of 2d machining , just no idea how to progress to 3d. all the 3d software ive seen seem to be too much for what basic stuff i make, also trying to machine a model car bonnet which is curved in the xz and yz directions. Any help would be greatfully appreciated.. ???

Do a search here on height maps.  Sounds like what you want to do.
