Arie, this is an excellent example of when clean simple lines are best, it's a very elegant timepiece.
Looking at the roundel in the background, it may have something to do with the RAF ?

Gents:  i present you the P1lot One, a Limited Edition Pilot's watch, made for a Dutch Watch forum.
the last months of last year, and the first 3 months of this year, i spent engineering a design made by Another member of that forum, while 3 other members did PR and buying parts, as well as making the leather straps, and pouches..

After Engineering was done i made 52 Titanium Grade 5 Cases, and casebacks.
We managed to get hold of 52 Unitas 6498-1 Calibers,

I applied Perlage to the inside of the caseback, the finish of that part just had to match the finish of the caliber..

the outside of the caseback also got a nice finish..

That Roundel.. yes.. that has something to do with RAF.. we, the P1lot One "Squadron" presented the watch to the buyers on Teuge Airfield, and in the hangar, we made a group-photo with the 5 people involved with this project.

From Left to right, Rob the Pouch-maker, Teun the Designer, Remie the strapmaker, Hans, buyer and PR, and on the right.. li'l ol'me.. dressed for the occasion.
we're standing in front of a Strikemaster which happened to be parked in the hangar.. alongside a F104 Starfighter..

So.. now you have a clue as to where i've been lately.. :)

And, had you been at the controls of any of those, I'd have envied you greatly!

(I'm a pilot, and VERY enamored of those aircraft!)

congratulations on a great project.  Now, get thee BACK to this forum regularly!  We miss your input.

well.. if i would be able to officially pilot an aircraft.. Boy.. would i love to fly this puppy..

this is as close as i'll ever get.. i'm afraid.. This is the "office" of a Starfighter... i built Scalemodels of Both the Starfighter and the Strikemaster as a little boy.. over 30 years ago..

I've been putting CamBam through it's paces for this project.. and it is far, far from over... as i ventured into watchmaking some 1½ years ago, i met a guy who had succesfully launched his own brand some years earlier..
I kinda looked up to him, as he had succeeded in what i was thinking of doing..

next week, he is coming over to my place, to discuss some technical issues for the production of his newest watch.. you got that right.. He who i looked up to.. is now my client!..

There was of course CamBam involved in the production of the Watch cases.. since i milled them on my little "Beagle 1 VMC 2814"..

The Buckles for the straps were also made from Titanium..

... and i played some Space-Invaders.. :)

Wow, great work Arie!  Congratulations.

I am taking a break from watches and am now designing my first clock.
A new lathe, a Wahli 76, just found its way into my shop this week.
I'm planning to start making chips again in the next couple of weeks.

Don, Thanks!..

don't take too long of a break... The UFO Tourbillon is just to pretty.. :)

For the P1lot One.. we decided to make a Sandwich dial.. Top layer, with the indices etched out, bottom layer covered with Luminova, the stuff that emits light..

This construction would however mean that the dial would be 0.6 mm thick.. causing the secondshand to rub against the dial.. so..

well.. kinda ok i guess.. ;D

i just turned the secondsdial a mere 0.15 mm deeper, giving plenty of room for the hand..

a Small recess was all the seconds hand needed..

and how about the light?..
