Styles Are Awesome
« on: December 11, 2015, 15:54:09 pm »
As Dick Greyson said, "Holy rusted metal Batman!"

I've always been to busy to play with them when sitting in front of the design computer, but after seeing a video on them recently I knew I'd have to learn more.  Yesterday I spent about three hours playing with and learning about styles.

I had built a library of MOPs I use all the time in my main template file.  Yesterday I deleted almost every one of them.  Styles are are going to save me many thousands of hours.

Darn you, Bob!

Now I'm going to have to make the time to explore them, also!

It's called CAM Styles,

" Styles replace a system of Templates that were used in previous
versions of CamBam and provided a similar purpose."

watch the video here; http://www.cambam.info/vids/CAM-Styles/
read about it here; http://www.cambam.info/doc/plus/cam/CAMStyles.htm

Hello,

I agree, styles are very, very useful and speed up the mop creation.

Edit: do you have any idea of how Andy do that ? ... (the PP list is not attached to the grid but shown on the drawing area)

I've been doing CAM for a test mold most of the day today.  Normally I would have been done and probably had it cut by now, but for each operation I think is even halfway common I am creating a new style.  When I actually create the MOP it takes 5-10 seconds and its ready to create code.  This is SLICK.

I found if I use the default style library and the default tool library it integrates very nicely.  Even creating the styles is getting faster.  I really like that I can copy the properties from a MOP or another style and paste them to a style I am creating.  This way I can go back to old jobs and use proven parameters for each new style.

Oh, freaking yeah.

It is a little annoying that the XMLs are in the hidden All Users/Application Data folder.  It will make backing them up a little more tedious.

It is a little annoying that the XMLs are in the hidden All Users/Application Data folder.  It will make backing them up a little more tedious.

You can change that ; creates a new folder in your Document folder (as example), saying called CambamData, in cambam, menu tools/browse system folder -> you fall on the hidden folder that contain all the style, pp, tools etc.

copy all and paste all in your new CambamData foder, then go to tools/options, then change the path for the system files in the  "System Path" to reflect the path of your CambamData folder.

The other advantage of this, is that when you re-instal or update CB, your style, pp, tools etc are not overwriten by the installer.

it also allow a way to share all library on the network if you use more that one computer
