Drawing an Ellipse
« on: May 10, 2016, 22:47:15 pm »
I recently had cause to draw an ellipse in CB.  At one time (2008) there was an ellipse plugin, but I don't see it on the plugins page.  However it's pretty simple to do in CB itself.

1) Draw a circle whose diameter is the major axis length

2) Convert circle to a polyline

3) Apply the remove arcs edit to the polyline

4) In the transform window, apply the scale transform to either the X or Y axis.  The scale amount is the ratio of the minor to major axes.

It must have slipped your mind, it was in CAD Extras; http://www.cambam.info/ref/plugin.cadextras
but has now been integrated into CamBam.

I do like the method you describe for drawing one.

Ellipse is here;

My mind does slip a lot these days.   ???  I do most of my CAD work outside of CB and rarely look at the CAD extras,

And there is also 2 scripts called elipse.py and elipse.vbs that are installed at the same time as cambam for ages,  ;)
