Speed Wrench

I got tired of busting my knuckles and having to go really slow so I fixed that problem.

My CB file is attached first.  Just adjust for your machine.

After roughing side one I separated them with the bandsaw and decked off the back side with a fly cutter.

The square hole in the middle of the handles on the side one cut is so I can locate off of it when I flip it over to deck off side two.

I wanted my grandson to be able to take a tool in and out of the spindle.  So I got a cheap right angle style 1/4" drive battery impact wrench.  Installs and removes a tool quickly and I use it to quickly open and close the vises.  Can't use a speed handle because my table is much bigger than the vises so no overhang.  You quickly get the hang of how tight it goes.

I have a table level enclosure on the table of the KMB1.  I used an air ratchet on those vises when I had them on it.  When I put the larger 8 inch vises on the KMB1 I'll make some holes for a long shank speed handle that I can stick through to reach the vises.  When I close the doors the same metal cover that protects the door slide from chips will cover the holes.  The space will be a little tight to use the air ratchet with the larger vises, and I never really liked it anyway.

I have a bad servo on the KMB1 right now so I'm not in a hurry.  That and its covered in millions of little 4140HT needles.

The file in the first post is for a 3/4 inch speed wrench.  It has no corner relief for sharp corner screw heads.  There is no fillet between the sections of the wrench either.  The chamfer operation, and the nature of thse unnatural fillets just from cutter diameter resulted in mediocre cutting and burrs from the chamfer tool.  Since I made the first ones for myself, and the vises they were used on actually had rounded corners on the screw heads it was no big deal.

They work, but a buddy of mine has a 5" vise that uses a 15mm wrench.  The corners on the vise screw head on his vise are sharp, and when I looked at other vises I have I found that most of them have sharp corners on the vise screw head.  I fixed all of that and cut another batch for 15mm.  Attached is that improved file.
