Regarding attachment visibility, how about this...
Keep all pictures / attachments visible to guests (as it is now ... new forum currently isn't but only due to 'read only' mode).
Create a new board 'Members area' or something and lock the permissions on that down more.
I don't know if we need a members only area only visible to members. It feels cliquish to me. If you have a small group that help you guide the future of the forum or the future of CamBam development at the management and implementation level you might have a private area for those people, but the rest of us don't even need to know about it.
