Deep engraving in one direction possible ?
« on: May 07, 2020, 17:12:45 pm »
Actually I try to abuse engraving for fast rounding the corner of my cutting boards.
For that I prefer milling alway in the same direction.

Example :
A simple line from left to right, D.Inc. is 2, desired depth is -4.

Engrave MOP
1. down to -2,
2. mill from left to right
3. down to -4
4. mill from right to left

So far so good, usually this is fine.

But I want

1. down to -2,
2. mill from left to right
3. up to security heigth, move to start point
4. down to -4
4. mill from right to left

Is there a simple trick do this ?

Best regards

Use 'Profile' MOP with roughing clearance set to minus tool radius. As a bonus you get the lead-in lead-out properties of 'Profile'. Set the cutting direction to 'climb' or 'conventional' and you have cutting only in one direction with tool lift between cuts.

With an engrave mop ? ; yes, just set Optimization to None. If you want to change the start point, reverse the polyline.
