When I bought Cutviewer the company sent me an email with registration instructions and a license file called " license.dat".

The email contained this;

Here are the instructions how to register CutViewer:
1) Put the attached license.dat file in your CutViewer Mill folder.
(It's "C:\Program Files\CutViewer Mill" by default)
2) Run CutViewer
3) Click "Registration" menu item from the menu bar at the top of the window and then click "Register".
4) Make sure the registration info is exactly as follows:

and then there was my Company Name, User Name, a long serial number.

You should also be aware of this; https://cambamcnc.com/forum/index.php?topic=7300.msg59087#msg59087

And, after a day of searching old backups, I cannot find the CV email with the license information.

I have license.dat, but suspect that varies with the licensing serial number.

Since CV is no longer in business (regrettably) AND the Indian company that took over distribution and licensing is also out of business, does anyone know of a generic license info file I might use?  I, personally, don't consider it 'pirating' if I properly paid and licensed it originally, and it's no longer supported.

Andy?

I cannot move my 'test system' over to Win-10 on my other computer until I can duplicate my XP configuration.

Thanks, all.

Hello Llyod

If you move your licence.dat file to W10 and follow Eddy's advice, it should works. I've CV installed on 4 systemes (2 XP and 2 W7) and all use the same lincence.dat file

remember that CV must be run as administrator. (and CB too)

Ah ah ! ... I read my mail from stan and the licence file is not sufficient, you need also your licence KEY and the actual KEY can't be retrieved in the installed CV.

Correct, David.  The key is the 'key issue'.  I have backups archived from 2012-2013 when I bought CV, but cannot find the email or file listing the license key.  Since I've never had to re-install it, I fear the information is lost.

Thus, my question about a 'generic key' and license.dat.  I'm loathe to try any 'cracked' copies.  They're always suspect.

I tested before I bought the licence, and I never find one that is working.

Give me your mail address in PM and I'll send you my licence file and key (for your eyes only ;)) (by mail, because there is no attachment with PM)

David,
Not received yet.  I sent you a PM with my current email.  There's a chance the admin panel is giving you the addy I had when I subscribed to CamBam.
