error on threading plugin
« on: June 27, 2025, 08:44:19 am »
Hi folks

I tried to download the threadedmill plugin last night, windows blocked it mutliple times, eventually grabbed it and loaded it into CB, sadly it comes up as 'error loading plugin' on start.

Does anyone know what the issue is?

I have 3 different plugins.
V 1.5.4844.14937 for Cambam V 0.98 - April 6, 2013
V 1.5.6205.27600 for CamBam V 1.0 32 Bits - December 27, 2016
V 1.5.7389.20590 for CamBam V 1.0 64 Bits - March 25, 2020

It does not matter whether your Windows is a 32 bit or 64 bit version. Only the Cambam version counts.
If a 32 bit CamBam version is installed under a 64 bit Windows, the 32 bit version of the plugin must also be used.

It is the same with the rights. Windows blocks the plugins, even if all rights are displayed correctly. The plugins must be installed as David has shown in his link

With Win10, I have to manually 'unblock' just about every extension I install.  It's just part of Microsoft's trying to prevent you from using anything but Microsoft software or software someone has PAID them to 'approve of'.

[edit]  That fixed it. Many thanks!

This is interesting, I went for the 64bit as the laptop is, I'll try the 32bit as my CamBam is from Feb 20.

I have been working with the 64 bit version of CamBam for many years. It runs more stable and faster than the 32 bit version. Especially when it comes to memory management, the 64 bit version has an advantage.
Even if you use the 32 bit version with the 4 Gb patch, the calculation of the toolpaths is faster in the 64 bit version.
I often mill 3D reliefs where the calculated toolpaths are in the millions. This takes time, but CB does not crash.

I wasn't aware there was these versions tbh, I bought v1 and have used it without thinking much about it, I've not had any crashes but my cuts are very simple as I don't offer any 3d the clients I pick up couldn't afford the cost,  ;) , so I stick to the 'brackets and gaskets' type jobs. I apply the same rules to the galvo laser.
