The Tele is designed to be cheap and easy to build and I agree the tone is amazing, P90 pickups also sing nicely.
How about the Jim Root signature Tele ?

I played an early handmade Haar Tele with a lot of mojo and soul inside for le last 15 years,
now it´s time to go on pension for her.

Now I ordered a modern Fender Tele Ultra and I´m waiting unpatiently.
I tested it in the shop and was blasted away by sound and quality.
But it was black instead of sunburst, so I could´nt buy directly.

Not necessarily, it's about the right tool for the right job.
For example, if it was for playing Jonny Hiland stuff then a Tele would be ideal, but you would need a detuned 8 string for Meshuggah
