Hello there, I am a new novice member, coming up to 85 in age, I have a Taig mill and Lathe, I am building Jerry Howells "Vickie" hot air engine, haven't a clue about 3D, is it possible to get a start to finish detailed explanation of the process so that I can enter as if I was developing the program myself, it would help me to learn,

I wanted to add a photo and cad dwg but am unable,

Edmund.......Alberta

Hi Ed

To add Files or photo's to you post , just scroll down the page past the text you've
entered and you will see at the bottom of the page  Add Attachments, click on
this and you will be asked which items to add.

I went and had a look at the engine (Nice) and to be frank, If you can, you should
do as much as possible with 2.5 operations  why?  because they are faster to
program and execute on the mill, much much faster.

For your flat cone shape look in the documentation for a machining operation setting
called Side Profile. you can also do a forum search for side profile.

Here's a link to a companion site hosted by our Admin here, there's a lot of info there.

Hello

have a look on the .cb file attached.

The slope angle must be 90°-13° > 77° to have a 13° angle from the horizontal plane.

inside/outside = outside
Method=Slope, Value=77

depth is given by "target depth", a small the depth increment is needed to achieve a nice finishing.

I use 2 mop, the first is for roughing (with an endmill) and use  Adjust Cut Width = true and a depth increment = 0.25, the second is for finishing, with a DI = 0.05 and  Adjust Cut Width set to False.

on the picture you can see the rough pass as gray

Hello, David, I seem to be having trouble replying to your text I have tried 3 times to reply, it takes a long time and I get an error window about the file may be too big or timed out, the text is approx 4 lines and 3 photos, is that too big?

Here is the message: Hello Dave, I thank you for your assistance and it was a great response, I think I have a working code, I did a dry run in Mach3 with no errors, next I will do a run in styrofoam, can't be too careful to many hours into this part, I am attaching a few photos as a test attachment,[/img]

Hope I've done it right,

Edmund......Alberta,
Seems wrong somehow,

Hi Edmund,

If you familiar with you can use compression program to 'shrink ' the file and then post as attachment. 7-zip is a free program that does this.
Good Luck.
My 2¢

Win10 (64 bit, CB(1.0)rc 1(64 bit) Mach3, ESS, G540, Endurance Laser.

Thank you, Bubba, I will give that a try, is four lines and 3 photos too much for the forum??? I'm not even sure the photos were attached?

Edmund,
It depends upon the size of the files.  There is a limit.  You might try reducing the resolution of your pictures to something like 800x600, which seems to be a good size for attachments.

Lloyd, Many years ago on another forum I would resize photos but have forgotten, at the moment I'm having trouble even posting a photo, I have downloaded 7-zip I'm sorry but zipping a file eludes me also, I'm going to try posting a photo here, I have chosen one file P1010360 JPG and nothing comes up, no photo, I have now selected insert image, still nothing,

For the picture, it is because there are to "heavy" ; 5115 KB for the one you attach. Resize your picture to something like 1024 pixels width (currently it is 4896x3264 pixels)

Each message is limited to 4 files and the total must be < to 6000 KB
