Two MOPS, Same Parameters, Different Results
« on: June 13, 2021, 00:50:56 am »
I created eighteen toolpaths with identical MOPs but for some unknown reason, at least to me, the resulting gcode is different in one of the files.  I've attached two CB files for reference.  The Tool Tag 0 file generates the correct Z depth (-.005) for the engrave MOP while the tool tag 17 file generates a -.015 Z depth for the engraving MOPs.  Depth Increment (.005) and Target Depth (-.005) are identical across all engraving MOPs.  What am I missing?  I'd like to know what needs to be corrected so I don't crash a cutter into my stock.

Thanks

Hello

It's because your polylines that constitute the number 17 are at -0.01 in Z, so, because with engrave mop the depth is relative to the line position itself, you get -0.01 + -0.005 = -0.015

You can use the flatten plugin to insure that your lines to engrave are at Z = 0 (and also that they are "flat")

Thanks for the explanation.  A front view clearly shows the polyline elevation in relation to the stock top.  Now I know.
