Hello, sorry for my very bad English, I'll try to help.
I don't think there is a limit of plugins in linux version of Cambam.
Now I'm settings a new (old but new for me) laptop with ubuntu 20.04 and CamBam.
I use the installation script  for setting the launcher and some other things,  everything seem good.
I had to install mono-complete AND libmono-microsoft-visualbasic10.0-cil, otherwise some plugins doesn't work.
Now I have more than 50 plugin installed.

Remember to launch the script 'install-launcher.sh' as described here: http://cambamcnc.com/ref/ref.linux
The script must be launched in the same directory as the file cambam-mime.xml.
The fastest way to do it is right click in the directory CamBam 1.0 in your home folder and type ./install-launcher.sh.
After that, if all the mono packet are installed, CamBam will work good, with the right file associations too.
