This could go either way and I have mentioned it before.

Some option fields do not appear in operations where they do not apply.  One however does and it drives me bonkers.  StartPoint appears in the Pocket operation, but it does nothing.  It would be wonderful if in the next bug fix release if the start point was fixed to work in pocket operations.  Particularly for horizontal or vertical tool paths.

If I have the time I'll be glad to show you a little in my shop.

Bob,

It does something, have a look at the attached cb file, each rectangle has the start point in a different corner.
Whether it does as you require or expect, I don't know.
Looking at the code, "start point" does nothing if optimaisation mode = none.

Hello

Yes as I know, start point works OK with pocket.

Particularly for horizontal or vertical tool paths.

Yep, seems there is a problem with H and V machining and not only with the start point that seems to do nothing, but also with the cut direction ; on this example, the cut is always done in Climb direction with the first TP at the top of the rectangle and starting at the left side where in Conventional it should start at the top-right or bottom-left to match the right cut direction mode.

I think it's not a new bug and certainly it was already reported in the past (the pb is the same on 0.98)

Edit: ah!, it's here
https://cambamcnc.com/forum/index.php?topic=3395.msg21832/index.php#msg21832

except that what I see is that the cut is always done in Climb mode not always in Conventional mode as said Ralf.

I'll add it to the V1.0 bug list because maybe Andy do not take care about the (very) "old" bugs reported in the 0.98

It is correct, the bug is also present in V1.

You can at least switch climb and conventional inside the pocket.

If you use optimization mode 0.98 or 0.97, climb is always milled. The milling starts in the upper left corner.
If you use optimization mode none, the milling is always conventional. The milling starts in the lower left corner.
The settings climb and conventional do not matter. Only switching the optimization mode on and off switches the milling direction.

And sorry, I got so familiar with the (few) quirks of CamBam, I don't even think about it anymore.

Work with Adobe programs…
